How much did you earn in two days
While Shamshera opened at 10.25 at the box office, on the second day on Saturday too, the film earned only 10.5 crores without showing much growth. This is one of the lowest successes in Ranbir Kapoor’s career, while the films released this year also declined significantly. Shamshera is a massive film made on a budget of 150 crores and the film has already shown signs of failing miserably.
Ranbir couldn’t beat Karthik
Even before the release of Shamshera, everyone’s answer came down to one question – will the opening of Ranbir Kapoor’s Shamshera beat the opening of Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2? It is noteworthy that Karthik Aryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is the biggest opener of this year so far. Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 had a total gross of 14 crores at the box office.
lag behind in earnings
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 had a budget of 80 crores and the film earned 184 crores. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 had an opening of 14 crores at the box office and is the only Hindi film of the year with the highest opening so far. Gangubai Kathiawadi is the third big film of this year after Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 opening 184 crores and Akshay Kumar’s Bachchan Pandey opening 13.5 crores.
Same opening as Gangubai
Interestingly, while Gangubai gave an opening of 10.5 crores, Ranbir Kapoor’s Shamshera also gave Shamshera an opening in the same range. Shamshera registered an overall occupancy of 14 percent in theaters on the first day. Shamshera had a slow start on Friday, July 22. The film opened with an occupancy of around 9 percent in the morning shows as the day progressed, Shamshera recorded an occupancy of 11 percent in the afternoon and 14 percent by evening. On the other hand, the film did not pick up momentum even after nightfall and the film registered 22 percent occupancy in the night show as well.
Ranbir’s lowest opening
Significantly, this will be the fifth time in Ranbir Kapoor’s career that he will somehow manage to reach double figures. Before Shamshera’s 10.3 crores, Tamasha had 10.9 crores, Roy 10.4 crores, Rockstar 10.6 crores and Politics 10.5 crores. Rockstar and Tamasha were box office flops while Roy and Politics were semi-hits. But the budget of none of these films was even close to Shamshera.
Thor love and thunder
While Bollywood films struggle for the debut and then the box office, English films are winning at the box office. The recently released Thor Love and Thunder has a total of 18 crores in India. The film has earned a total of 95 crores in India. At the same time, in Hindi too, the film touches the figure of around 30 crores.
