oi-Neeti Sudha
Directed by Sabir Khan
Starring Abhimanyu Dasani, Shilpa Sheti, Shirley Setia, Samir Soni, Abhimanyu Singh
There are movies you watch that you want to go to the land of dreams, your eyes begin to close desperately and your mind refuses to think anything. This is exactly the feeling that comes when you look “useless”. This is a remake of the 2017 Telugu film Middle Class Abbai. Starring Nani and Sai Palavi, the film was a story of relationships, trust and difficult situations in a middle-class family. Somewhere the credit for the success of this film lies more in the performance than in the story. But in his remake of Nikamma, from director to writer to artist, everyone seemed confused.

This is the story of Adi (Abhimanyu Dasani), an unemployed middle-class boy who lives with his brother (Samir Soni). But his life changes when his brother marries and his daughter-in-law Avni (Shilpa Sheti) returns home. He assumes that because of his daughter-in-law he has turned away from his brother and hates him from the bottom of his heart. But the situation is such that in a few months in a new city he has to live with his daughter-in-law. During this, many things are revealed and he begins to respect Avni. Avni, who happens to be an RTO officer, gets into big trouble for her honesty. A robber from the city pursues his life. In such a situation, how does Adi protect his daughter-in-law and does he succeed … The story revolves around this.
interview with Shilpa Sheti
The two-hour, twenty-eight-minute story tries to entertain with some fun dialogues and some powerful action series, but proves inadequate. In the first half the story seems to be completely deviated, in the second half it is gaining a little, but does not grab attention for long. Venu Sriram wrote the script for the film, which is very weak. Also, the dialogues written by Sanamjit Talwar have no force. There is no detail in any of the characters or in the emotions.

From writing, directing to the technical level, there is no innovation in film. Harry K. Vedantam’s cinematography fails to make the story strong. Editing Manan Ajay Sagar could have been a little stricter. The music of the film is given by Amaal Malik, Javed-Mohsin and Vipin Patva, which is average.
On the acting front, Abhimanyu Dasani impressed as an actor with “Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota” and “Meenakshi Sundareswarar”, but disappointed in “Nikamma”. Part of the credit for this goes to poor writing and direction. Shilpa Shetty appeared on the big screen after a long time and gave full justice to his character. It attracts attention for a limited period of time. Shirley Setia had no choice but to look beautiful in this movie. Actors such as Sachin Khedekar, Sameer Soni and Vikram Gokhale were completely isolated from the director, which is disappointing.

In general, “Nikamma” could be much more interesting if the writing was clearer, the attention was paid to the texture of the characters and the editing was stricter. A dialogue from the villainous character in the film says: “Kutta pal le, magar vaham mat palana”. After watching “Nikamma”, we hope that soon the producer-director will also rise above the rhetoric of southern films. Every remake will be successful. 1.5 stars for “Nikamma” from Filmibeat.
